Hamilton Ladies Watches
The Hamilton watch company was founded in Pennsylvania in 1892. Its first line of pocket watches were known as the "watch of railroad accuracy" putting a stop to an epidemic of train accidents. During the 2nd decade of the 20th century Hamilton was the supplier of watches to the US armed forces. In the 1920's Hamilton was confirmed as the leader in watch design with the introduction of the Yankee watch. During World War II Hamilton stopped manufacturing watches for consumers and concentrated on providing the armed forces with over a million timepieces. The Hamilton Marine Chronometer was the first to be produced by modern manufacturing methods. In 1957 Hamilton introduced the "Ventura" the worlds first battery operated watch. In 1961 Elvis Presley wore his Ventura in the movie "Blue Hawaii". In 1970 Hamilton introduced the world's first digital watch. In the 1980s Hamilton reintroduced designs from the 1920-1960 which started a trend within the industry of classical watches.
